More pre-tourney highs for Rams
The Winston-Salem State University Rams baseball team entered last week’s Collegiate Baseball Poll ranked as the #28 baseball team in America. The Rams were also ranked #1 in the Atlantic Region.
WSSU (38-9) overtook Seton Hill, which fell to #3 in the region. Millersville is ranked #2., with Kutztown (4), Shippensburg (5), California (Pa) (6), East Stroudsburg (7) and Mercyhurst (8), rounding out the top eight teams in the Atlantic Region.
The rankings will likely change this week. The Rams fell to Mount Olive, 6-3, on Sunday and Francis Marion on Monday.
In other baseball news, Rams Paco Martin and German Reyes have been selected to the Division II District 2 First Team of the Capital One Academic All‐District Baseball Teams,which recognize the nation’s top student‐athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
The Rams have earned the CIAA’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II playoffs and await the tournament seeding announcement. The tourney will be played May 16-19.
