More than 200 guests attend trunk-or-treat at Mt. Calvary Holy Church of Winston-Salem
Some came running, some came dancing, some came prancing, and others came playing. But more than 200 children and their families filled the parking lot at the Mt. Calvary Holy Church of Winston- Salem on Oct. 31. Pastor Nathan (Adero) Munford IV networked with Pastor Stephen Tyndall of Freedom Baptist Church and members of the lodge hall on 14th Street.
“The trunk-or-treat provided a safe environment for people in the community who are going out. It is held in a church, and we partnered with Freedom Baptist Church,” said Pastor Munford. “It is a fun environment where they can find peace, hope, and take a load off of the problems they face on a regular basis.”
“It really went well. We were able to bring the people into the community together,” said First Lady Adero Munford. “It was good clean fun, and we met many people, promoted Christ and encouraged them to use their imaginations with their costumes.”
Min. Dwight Bryson and Sister Cynthia Robinson tied for first place for their chili recipes. Kodjo Thon, Keyaira Hutson and friends won first place for the top candy truck.
The 24th District of Prince Hall Masons and Eastern Star chapters also participated with the trunk-or-treat. They gave away school supplies, hot dogs, water and candy for all. The 200 people also circulated through the parking lot and through the lodge hall.
“We sponsor the trunk-or-treat each year. I enjoy the creativity of the two churches and the Masonic lodges and Eastern Star chapters working together to serve the community,” said Ben Piggott of Salem Lodge #139.
Alpha and Omega Church of Faith also provided chocolate candy for the children.
