National Wear Red Day and American Heart Month
National Wear Red Day is Friday, Feb. 5. Despite the devastating toll of COVID-19, heart disease remains the #1 cause of death in the U.S and worldwide. Join us in raising awareness of heart disease in women. We are encouraging everyone in the Triad to post photos on social media showing off their red with #GoRedTriad.
While nearly 80% of cardiac events can be prevented through modest changes to diet and lifestyle, heart disease continues to be the #1 killer of women. Cardiovascular disease does not target any specific age group; nearly 45% of women age 20 and older are living with some form of heart disease. It’s time to change that fact. We lose one in every three women to cardiovascular disease. These are our mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, co-workers and neighbors. We need to change this statistic together.
