National Women of Achievement, Inc. hold regional conference downtown
The National Women of Achievement, Inc. (NWOA) congratulated the Southeast Region’s newly elected officers for the 2023-2025 fiscal years. New officers were recently elected at our Southeast Region’s Conference held at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Winston-Salem Downtown.
The conference was opened by Achiever Dr. Evelyn Sanders followed by meditation by Achiever Dr. Pamela Dockery-Howard. Greetings were brought by Achiever April Jackson-Banks, national president and Achiever Gwendolyn Clark. National second vice president. Achiever Lisa Moore, Kernersville chapter president, brought greetings on behalf of the Southeast Region. Achiever Carrie Loftin was in charge of refreshments.
The outgoing NWOA Southeast Regional Director Achiever Dr. Evelyn Sanders thanked her administration for their work in helping to move the SER forward. A special thanks to the chapter presidents for all their hard work.
The Region is most proud of the increase in membership over the past two years, with two standout chapters; the Kernersville and the Winston-Salem Chapters, that increased membership by 40%.
Kernersville chapter also has another membership induction scheduled for June. Congratulations to both chapters – you did the work!
National Women of Achievement, Southeast Region closed out the 2023 year by holding our Founder’s Day program on February 11, Regional Conference on April 30, and Profiles of Prominence on May 6.
At our Regional Conference chapter presidents and Achievers were recognized for outstanding service rendered to the Region. Outstanding service awards were presented to: Achievers Debra Macbeth, Patricia Wynn, Donna Price Merrills, Norma Corley, and Kharma Edwards. The Outstanding Reporting Award was presented to the Clemmons chapter, Achiever Dr. Pamela Dockery-Howard, president; and Chapter of the Year award was presented to the Winston-Salem chapter, Achiever Shelley Noisette, president. NWOA Southeast Regional Director, Achiever Dr. Evelyn Sanders, was presented with a gift of appreciation on behalf of the region by Assistant Regional Director, Achiever Norma Corley. National officers, Achievers Gwendolyn Clark, national second vice president and Diane Piggott, national chaplain, were also recognized with gifts of appreciation presented on behalf of the region by Achiever Evelyn Sanders.
Workshops for the Regional Conference were presented by National Historian, Achiever Dolly Spencer, National Collegiate Director, Achiever Christine Lametrie, National Collegiate Coordinator, Achiever Lashanda Millner Murphy and guest, Felecia Bennett-Giles of Wake Forest School of Medicine. Achiever Valerie Edwards entertained us with a song.
The Conference was very well attended and enjoyed by all. We are looking forward to our National Conference July 19-22, 2023, in Miami, Florida.
