New job for Dr. Crews
Winston-Salem native Dr. William S. Crews Jr. has joined Carter BloodCare in Dallas, Fort Worth, Texas area as a staff physician in the medical services department.
Crews is a 1992 graduate of East Forsyth High School. He did his undergraduate studies at Winston-Salem State University, earning a BS in medical technology. He attended medical school at Caribbean-based Ross University and completed his fellowship in Philadelphia at the Thomas Jefferson Medical School, where he gained increased expertise in blood banking and transfusion medicine.
Crews, who lived the majority of his adult life in Greenville, enjoys spending time with his two-year-old daughter (Mirinda) and cooking. He says that he is growing to gain an appreciation for the Texas heat.
“I look forward to collaborating with other medical staff in the oversight of medical and technical operations of the blood center, including issues of compliance with national and regional regulations,” he said.
Carter BloodCare is a not-for-profit that operates on behalf of patients in 58 Texas counties. With volunteer blood donors, Carter BloodCare is the primary provider of blood transfusion services for more than 200 Texas health care facilities and provides more than 440,000 units of lifesaving blood components for patients annually.
The blood center is licensed by the Food and Drug Administration, accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks and is a member of America’s Blood Centers.
