The new Visit Winston-Salem African American Arts & Culture Guide made its debut at the recent National Black Theatre Festival.

The 24-page, full-color publication is designed as a companion to Visit Winston-Salem’s Annual Visitor Guide and to assist visitors in planning African American-themed tours during their stay in Winston-Salem. The guide will also be distributed to meeting planners and group tour operators by the Visit Winston-Salem sales team.

It highlights popular historical attractions, including St. Philips African Moravian Church in Old Salem Museums & Gardens, Reynolda House Museum of American Art, Winston–Salem State University’s Diggs Galley, the Delta Fine Arts Center, the N.C. Black Repertory Company and New Winston Museum.

Also mentioned in the guide are noteworthy regional attractions such as the International Civil Rights Center & Museum in Greensboro and the Mendenhall Plantation in Jamestown.

“This guide was specifically developed to better share our destination’s rich African-American  heritage. We are also debuting an enhanced presence of Winston-Salem’s Black History on our web site,” said Richard Geiger, president of Visit Winston-Salem.
