Performers to play benefit concert Sunday
(pictured above: The Mighty Wonders are among a long list of groups, singers and dancers who will perform at a benefit concert this weekend.)
“Songs of Praise,” a benefit concert for Elder Lamonte Williams, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2.
A long list of performers will make a joyful noise at First Calvary Baptist Church, 401 Woodland Ave., beginning at 4 p.m.
Williams is the pastor of Diggs Memorial United Holy Church. He was in an automobile accident on May 12. His car was totaled, and the injuries he incurred have left him unable to work and with a mountain of doctor and prescription bills.
Williams’ friends are coming to his aid. Anita “Boss Lady” Dean-Arnett, a WTRU deejay, will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Singers and groups will include Dionn Owen & Renaissance, Rhonda Crowder, Dr. Ron Bigelow and IFC, Just Sangin’, The Mighty Wonders, Christina Stewart, Patty Perrin and Sir Jerry Sadler and SOP. The MakitPersonal Mime Ministry and Minister William Furches, a popular mime performer, will also take part.
Rev. Derwin Montgomery is the pastor of First Calvary. For more information about the event, call 336-724-3060.
