WS Chronicle

The ladies of Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrated high academic achievement on Sunday, Oct. 21 at their annual scholarship recognition ceremony.  Four young ladies were honored and received merit scholarships. They are:

• Brandi Kennedy, who is studying pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A graduate of Parkland High School, Brandi is the daughter of Robert and Tawanda Whitehead.

• Natasha Moralas-Castellanos, who is currently enrolled in Salem College with a double major in chemistry and business administration. She is the daughter of Norma Castellanos and graduated from Glenn High School.

• Jeanette Stackhouse, also a graduate of Glenn High School, who is pursuing a double major in English and public policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is the daughter of Lee and Yvette Stackhouse.

• Paige Woods, a graduate of Parkland High School, is currently undecided on her major, but is considering a career in the legal profession.  Paige is a student at Harvard University.  Paige was represented at the Scholarship Ceremony by her mother Mabel Woods.

The Scholarship Committee was chaired by Natalie Harding and Leslie Cofield.  Candice W. Brown is the president of the Phi Omega Chapter.
