Get ready for an unforgettable night of innovative jazz as Jonathan Barber & Vision Ahead take the stage on Oct. 5 at NCMA Winston-Salem (formerly SECCA). Piedmont Jazz Alliance is thrilled to welcome Jonathan Barber back to Winston-Salem, this time with his incredible group, Vision Ahead. 

Jonathan Barber, a distinguished drummer from Hartford, Connecticut, was recognized as the #1 Up-and-Coming Drummer of 2018 by Modern Drummer. Inspired by his father’s performances in church, Barber has become a leading force in contemporary jazz, collaborating with icons like Pat Metheny, Nicholas Payton, and Erykah Badu. He brings his drumming prowess and compositional talents to the forefront with Vision Ahead. 

Featuring Matt Dwonszyk on bass, Andrew Renfroe on guitar, Taber Gable on keys/piano, and Matt Knoegel on saxophones, Vision Ahead delivers fresh compositions and vibrant performances that have captivated audiences worldwide. This performance will showcase music from their latest CD, “In Motion,” highlighting their evolving sound and dynamic musicality, promising an exciting and memorable experience.
