NAACP installs new officers, executive committee
Jan. 5 marked the beginning of a new era for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. Three incumbent members and six new members were sworn in by retired District Court Judge Denise Hartsfield while standing in front of a packed auditorium last Thursday evening, officially starting the term for the newly elected board.
Fourteen of the best junior varsity teams from around the area came together the week after Christmas for the 2022 David Lash/Chronicle Basketball Tournament. The tournament ran from December 27 through December 29.

SECCA is located at 750 Marguerite Drive in Winston-Salem.
City Manager Lee Garrity has informed Mayor Allen Joines and the City Council that he is retiring effective June 23. At his retirement, Garrity, 61, will have served the citizens of Winston-Salem for more than 32 years, including almost 17 years as city manager.
Dr. King’s quest for economic justice continues
The season is quickly approaching for United Firepower, the newest arena football team here in Winston-Salem. To get fans engaged and excited about the upcoming season, the team held a jersey reveal at ROAR in downtown Winston-Salem on December 29.
