During a meeting on Monday, April 16, the Winston-Salem City Council voted to approve $3 million for the construction of a brand new Belview Community Center. The funds for the new community center is part of the council’s newly adopted Emerging Capital Needs Program which is designed to address the needs of the city that were presented by the mayor and city council earlier this year.
Despite the rainy day, hundreds of people turned out at the Piedmont Earth Day Fair on Saturday, April 13, at the fairgrounds’ education building. Dozens of attendees were there to cheer on the students from Forsyth Early College and Atkins High School who competed in the 4th annual Piedmont Earth Day debate.
On Sunday, April 7, Love Fellowship Outreach Church and Christ Unity held a free concert and dinner for the community. One Voice of Winston-Salem headlined the event.
For Rev. Dr. Charles E. Gray, his list of memories is extensive since he has been leading the congregation of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for the last 40 years.
Since he was a student at Glenn High School, TJ Boone has had aspirations of opening his own gym and last weekend he achieved that goal when he opened Beyond Measures PT (Personal Training).
