For the first time in the series and after a 14-year hiatus, the matchup between Winston-Salem State University and North Carolina A&T State University was decided in overtime.
In Truist Stadium, the Rams fell 27-20, moving to 1-1 on the season, while the Aggies improved to 1-1.
Quick Facts:

*Since college added the overtime rule in 1995, this was the first overtime game between the Rams and the Aggies.

*For the second consecutive week, Daylin Lee threw zero interceptions. He was also 13-for-27 on 122 yards.

*Three Rams had rushing touchdowns, Trevon Hester, Daylin Lee, and Timothy Ruff, Jr.

*Justin Fleming led the way on defense with 11 solo tackles followed by Noble Joyner with seven. Zaahir Colen had one interception.

How it Happened:

*Zaahir Colen intercepted the ball, which led to Timothy Ruff scoring on a 14-yard rush, giving the Rams an early 6-0 lead.

*The Aggies answered, taking the lead, 7-6 with 7:11 to play in the first quarter.

*NCAT kicker broke the school record with a 52-yard field goal to give the Aggies a 10-6 halftime lead.

*The Aggies took a 17-6 lead in the third quarter after a 5-yard touchdown pass to Kevin White.

*Trevon Hester with a 37-yard run gave the Rams another touchdown, and the extra point was good as WSSU trailed 17-13 with 38 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

*Travon McClain had an exceptional block, tipping the ball in the fourth quarter which led to Justin Fleming recovering for the Rams to get possession with 8:00 left to play in the game.

*Daylin Lee with a three-yard rush to give the Rams a 19-17 lead, extra point by Gilberto Lorenzana gave the Rams a 20-17 score with 3:52 remaining in the game.

*The Aggies in the last minute scored a field goal to send the game into overtime, 20-20.

*NCAT scored in overtime to take a 27-20 lead. With one final attempt, Daylin Lee threw an interception.

Up Next:
The Rams are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 14, when they host Ohio Dominican University at Bowman Gray Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
