Rams make All-Region Team
The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams track & field sophomore tandem of Cruz Vargas-Sullivan and Tajanel McNeill were both named to the 2013 United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II All-Region team on Friday. The duo earned the honors after some stellar performances this season.
The regional honor is another feather in the cap for Vargas-Sullivan, who was named to the team in her first season running hurdles for the Lady Rams. One of her highlights of the season came at the 2013 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where she placed second in the event with a 1:01.11. That was an NCAA Division II national qualifying time. She ran a personal best 1:00.77 at the Wolfpack Last Chance meet to solidify a 13th national ranking and was selected to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Pueblo, Colorado.
Sophomore McNeill was the 2013 CIAA Outdoor Field Events Co-MVP after placing second in the women’s triple jump at the 2013 CIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
