The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Education Building, 4801 Bethania Station Road.

During the meeting the board is expected to vote on how students will make up days due to winter weather. To add instructional time to the calendar, the board will choose between two options: To have in-person instruction on March 7 and April 21, or to extend the school day by 15 minutes.

The change must be approved by the Board of Education before it is official. If approved, the longer days would begin Feb. 3.

If there are additional days lost to weather cancellations this school year, WS/FCS has designed a remote learning plan so that student learning will continue to the fullest extent possible.

The full board meeting on Tuesday is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The Finance Committee work session will begin at 4 p.m. The Curriculum Committee work session will begin at 4:45 p.m. in room 223.

Once posted, the full agenda for the board meeting can be found under the Meeting tabs at the top of the Board of Education webpage.

The meeting at 6:30 p.m. will be available for viewing on WS/FCS Cable 2 (Spectrum viewers) or a link to the live broadcast can be found on the WS/FCS Cable 2 webpage. The meeting also streams live on the district’s YouTube channel.
