The City of Winston-Salem Recreation and Parks Department is beginning to gear up for the 2024 Piedmont Plus Senior Games/SilverArts.  As the Senior Games Supervisor, Anna Marino has an exciting year planned and the kickoff on January 19 is the place to learn about what’s new and what’s continuing with the Games.

Historically, the Piedmont Plus Senior Games/SilverArts kick-off is held in January with the official Opening  Ceremony held on Friday before the game begin. This year the kickoff will take place as usual on Jan. 19 at Hanes Hosiery Recreation Center, 501 Reynolds Blvd., from 10 a.m. until noon. Adults age 50 and older can pick up their registration forms, learn about additions and changes to the games, meet other participants, and visit among the many vendors who will be on site. There will be coffee, hot chocolate and other refreshments, as well as door prizes.

The Opening Ceremony will be held on Friday, April 5, at 11:30 a.m. at Salem Lake Marina. There will be an entertaining program and lunch will be served. This is always an exciting event, culminating with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

Senior Games/SilverArts truly has something to fit everyone, from sports competitions – yes, we have pickle ball! – to tennis and swimming, to the creative arts – heritage arts, photography, painting, and a literary competition. Come out to the kickoff and see what all the fun is about!
