Spring Concert Series enlivens grounds and spaces at NCMA Winston-Salem

Performances span Rock, Folk, Funk and Electronic genres
North Carolina Museum of Art, Winston-Salem (formerly SECCA) is proud to present a robust slate of spring concerts, activating the museum’s scenic grounds and unique spaces with unexpected and groundbreaking artists. The spring concert season kicked off on Feb. 15 with the return of the Crossroads concert series in the auditorium featuring Black Opry and culminates in May with an energetic concert at the picturesque Lakeside stage.
Tickets for half a dozen concerts are on sale now at NCMAWinstonSalem.gov, with discounts available for museum members.
“The spring calendar at NCMA Winston-Salem is set to bloom with a rich bouquet of rejuvenating musical experiences,” said music coordinator Kathryn Cranford. “Our concerts are more than entertainment. They’re a component of the museum’s dedication to creating inclusive, revelatory, and educational experiences that enrich North Carolina’s music-lovers and music-makers alike.”
Launched in 2011, the Crossroads concert series explores the hidden backstreets, lost highways, and unexpected intersections of Folk and Americana in the intimate 300-capacity auditorium at NCMA Winston-Salem. There are two installments of the series taking place this spring: a solo performance by Grammy nominee Caroline Rose on Saturday, March 15, and a special evening with “The American Songster®” Dom Flemons and Colin Cutler on Saturday, April 19.
On March 1, the Night Moods concert series returns to the historic Hanes House at NCMA Winston-Salem with a performance by FLLZ (pronounced “feels”). Night Moods explores the interplay of electronic music, technology and digital art while juxtaposing the stately environment of the Hanes House with cutting edge sounds and visuals. In addition to performing as a member of FLLZ, multidisciplinary artist Zac Trainor currently has work on view in “Internal Review,” a group exhibition featuring works by more than 40 NCMA staff members. The exhibition is on view in the Potter Gallery through May 18.
Drawing inspiration from a legendary 1990 Sun Ra Arkestra performance at the same spot, Lakeside is a genre-bending concert series showcasing today’s best pop and rock acts on the scenic grounds of NCMA Winston-Salem. Following a successful 2024 launch, Lakeside returns with a mesmerizing performance by Dawn Richard and Spencer Zahn on Saturday, March 29, and continues with Texan funk sensation Sir Woman on Friday, May 2.
