The art of local students will be showcased at the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools’ Spring Arts Extravaganza in Reynolds Place in the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts,  251 North Spruce St.

An opening night event will be held tomorrow (Friday, March 14) from 5–7 p.m.  The exhibit will be on display through March 19. The opening event is free; there is also no charge to view the exhibit.

One of the largest arts shows in the county, the Arts Extravaganza will feature the best artwork from elementary, middle schools and high schools in the system, including paintings, drawings, sculptures and photography.

“Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School arts shows are among the most popular events held at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts,” said Jim Sparrow, president and CEO of the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.  “The quality of art work displayed each year and the high level of creativity are evidence of the good work being done in our public schools. The Arts Council is proud to be their partner and to have an ‘Arts in Education’ grant category.”

This year’s sponsor, Modern Automotive, will award three $250 Sawtooth School for Visual Arts scholarships and Sawtooth family memberships to the “Artists of the Future” winners that will be announced tomorrow. Modern Automotive will also give three art teachers certificates for $150 each to purchase supplies at Dick Blick Art Materials.
