Gov. Pat McCrory has honored Forsyth County Public Library Director Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin for her contribution to the African-American experience in North Carolina.
Hamlin is part of a select group of North Carolinians who is featured on the 2016 Heritage Calendar celebrating the African-American experience in North Carolina.
Selections for the 2016 calendar were chosen from those who have excelled in many fields, including education, law, community service, philanthropy, literature, science, engineering, the performing arts, space exploration and sports.
Sprinkle-Hamlin is featured in the month of October.
McCrory held a ceremony that included Vanessa Harrison, president of AT&T’s North Carolina operations; June Atkinson, superintendent of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction; state Sen. Dan Blue; and former ACC basketball and tennis All-American John Lucas.
