Talented groups to perform
Special to the Chronicle
The Voices of God’s Children of Winston-Salem and the Voices of Eden of UNC Charlotte will perform on Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. at St. John CME Church, 350 Crawford Place.
Thomie Douthit, owner of Douthit Funeral Services, will serve as master of ceremonies and Miriam McCarter, the former owner of Special Occasions, will be the storyteller.
The Voices of God’s Children are dedicated to the artistry of the music known as Negro Spirituals. The purpose of The Voices of Eden is to inspire and uplift members of the UNC Charlotte campus and others.
This year’s theme is “Voices,” from Ezekiel 33:32: “And lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.”
Rev. Peris Lester I is the host pastor. The Music and Arts Ministry is under the leadership of Merideth Johnson Reid, the church’s minister of music.
