The 20th Annual Happy Hill Community Reunion will be held on Friday, July 19 at the William C. Sims Sr. Recreation Center, 1201 Alder St. at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, July 20 from 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. in Happy Hill Park, which is across the street from the Sims Center.

The July 19 event is a “Tribute to Mother Dinner.” Attendees are asked to bring a framed photo (8 x 10) of their mother if she lived in the Happy Hill Community. The photos will be placed in a display.

Happy Hill, formerly called Liberia, is the oldest black community in Winston-Salem. The founders of the Happy Hill Reunion, William “Rock” Bitting and Ben Piggott (the former center supervisor of Sims Rec Center), say the theme of this year’s event is “The Importance of a Mother’s Love in a Community.”

Volunteers are needed to help give attendees parking directions, provide security and to help with other duties. Vendors and performers are also being recruited.

For more information about any of the programs, call Ben Piggott at 336-727-2580 after 2 p.m, or Cedric Moser at 336-971-9830, if you are interested in performing.
