Summer is over, the kids and grandkids are back in school. Now would be the ideal time to begin your next adventure in volunteering!

The Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston Salem is seeking volunteers to serve in transportation, visitation/respite and minor home repair. We value your time and we’re offering flexibility options that can satisfy both you and our participants.

A recent AARP study identified transportation as the top concern of older adults who often lack a car, driver’s license, or have health issues that prevent them from driving. This creates a great obstacle for them as they navigate getting to doctor’s appointments or the grocery store. Many volunteers have expressed the joy and satisfaction they have received from providing needed services to older adults, as well as the appreciation of those who are served. It’s a win-win for everybody.

On Monday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m., The Shepherd’s Center will host a Volunteer Orientation at their location at 1700 Ebert Street. Here you can learn about opportunities in transportation, visitation, minor home repair, book room and more. To RSVP for this volunteer session, please email Cheryl Lane, volunteer coordinator, at clane@shepherdscenter.org or call 336-748-0217.
