Trellis Supportive Care announces appointment of Dr. Michael Lalor as CEO
Dr. Michael Lalor
Trellis Supportive Care’s Board of Directors has announced that Dr. Michael Lalor, formerly the organization’s chief medical officer, has assumed the position of president and CEO. This comes immediately following the retirement of Linda Darden, who served as president and CEO since 2014.
Dr. Lalor joined Trellis Supportive Care in 2014 as the chief medical officer. He has provided outstanding clinical leadership and built an expert team of physicians and nurse practitioners who elevate the level of care Trellis delivers to nearly 1,000 patients daily.
“I’m honored to have been chosen to lead the organization I love. I am thankful for Linda’s leadership and stewardship of this organization, and I am excited about our future as we continue to support patients and families in our community,” shared Lalor.
After earning a bachelor of science degree from the State University of New York at Albany, he received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Lalor also holds a master of business administration with an emphasis in healthcare management from West Texas A&M University. He is board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine.
Since joining Trellis Supportive Care, Dr. Lalor helped shepherd the agency through the COVID pandemic, launched highly successful disease specific programs of care, and greatly expanded the palliative care program, all while maintaining consistently high-quality standards of patient care. Lalor engages at the state and national level to support advanced illness care, with a particular focus on caring for the aging.
“The board of directors and leadership of Trellis is so pleased to have this seamless transition in place. This organization is essential to our community and to have Dr. Lalor, with all of his experience and expertise, as our new chief executive officer is a real gift,” said Mike Gwyn, board chair.
About Trellis Supportive Care
Trellis Supportive Care (formerly Hospice & Palliative CareCenter) was the first hospice in the state of North Carolina. Since 1979, hospice care has been the cornerstone of the organization’s care; however, over the years, new and expanded programs have been introduced. These programs include grief counseling and advance care planning – both free of charge – for anyone in the community, as well as expanded palliative care services designed to meet the needs of patients earlier in the disease process. In 1998 the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home was opened, providing around-the-clock care to patients and families needing short-term inpatient care or respite care.
The Trellis Supportive Care staff are specially trained professionals who work as a team to help patients and their families live fully and comfortably, with peace of mind – even during life’s most challenging time.
