WFU Law grad appointed judge
Gov. Bev Perdue has appointed Marvin K. Blount III to the Superior Court bench for the 3A Judicial District, which covers Pitt County. Blount, who currently hears cases throughout the state as a Special Superior Court judge, will fill the vacancy in District 3A created by the retirement of Judge Clifton W. Everett.
Blount has served as a Special Superior Court judge since 2009, presiding over numerous civil and criminal trials. Prior to becoming a judge, he worked in private practice in Greenville, with a concentration in civil litigation. Earlier in his career, he was employed by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
Blount received his law degree from Wake Forest University, and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from East Carolina University. Blount’s father, Marvin Blount Jr., also served as a Special Superior Court judge in North Carolina.
