WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (February 14, 2025) – GRAMMY®-winning tenor Karim Sulayman returns to the Symphony stage for Benjamin Britten’s haunting Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings—plus music by Arvo Pärt and Mozart’s final symphony. The Symphony will perform A Chamber Serenade on Saturday and Sunday, March 8 & 9, at Centenary United Methodist Church.

Lebanese-American tenor Karim Sulayman has garnered international attention as a sophisticated and versatile artist, praised for his “lucid, velvety tenor and pop-star charisma” (BBC Music Magazine). The 2019 Best Classical Solo Vocal GRAMMY® Award winner and a 2024 GRAMMY® Award nominee, Sulayman continues to earn acclaim for his original and innovative programming and recording projects, while regularly performing on the world’s stages in opera, orchestral concerts, recital and chamber music.

Joining Sulayman for the Britten Serenade is North Carolina Symphony horn player Christoper Caudill, who has performed on Baroque and Classical Horns with Atlanta Baroque, North Carolina Baroque, Apollo’s Fire, Brussels Chamber Orchestra, and Bach Akademie Charlotte.

The concert will feature Estonian composer Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten, a meditation on loss and remembrance, Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings, a masterpiece of chamber music that weaves together tenor and horn solos with ethereal string textures, and Mozart’s ”Jupiter” Symphony crowns the evening with its exuberant energy and sonic brilliance.

A Chamber Serenade will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8 and 3:00pm on Sunday, March 9 at Centenary United Methodist Church (646 W. 5th St). Tickets start at $29 and can be purchased online at wssymphony.org or by calling the Box Office at (336) 464-0145.
