After a sold-out, multi-sensory musical experience with Mysterium in June, the Winston-Salem Symphony is excited to return to Kaleideum for another creative collaboration. ’Sleepover at the Museum,’ part of the Symphony’s popular family series, will occur at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, and Sunday, Oct. 6, at Kaleideum’s new downtown location at 120 West Third Street.

Music Director Michelle Merrill, a parent herself, shared her enthusiasm for the event: “This concert is designed for families to experience the magic of live music together. It’s such a joy to create something where both children and adults can share in the excitement and imagination of the music and story.”

The concert was inspired by Karen LeFrak’s award-winning children’s book ”Sleepover at the Museum,” which tells the charming tale of Mason and his friends embarking on a scavenger hunt during an unforgettable birthday celebration at a museum. LeFrak, recognized as one of Good Housekeeping’s 10 Amazing Women in the Arts Over 50, later transformed the book into a multimedia musical experience, combining story and symphony.

In addition to ”Sleepover at the Museum,” the program will include spirited circus-themed music by Czech composer Julius Fučík and lively selections from Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt, ensuring a fun and adventurous experience for the whole family.

Tickets include museum admission, so families are encouraged to explore and play before attending the show. The concerts occur at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, at Kaleideum, 120 West Third Street. Tickets start at $5 for Kaleideum members and can be purchased online at symp.ws/sleepover or by calling Tickets & Guest Services at (336) 464-0145.
