Winston-Salem Writers announces 10-Minute Play Contest winners

Winston-Salem Writers is pleased to announce the winning entries for the 2025 14th annual 10-Minute Play competition. The competition is open to playwrights in North Carolina, as well as students currently enrolled in North Carolina schools or colleges. The top six plays selected will be produced at the 10-Minute Play Festival in June. The winners are: 

*Are We Jackals?  by Jacob Gordner of Trinity  

*Dancing to Remember by Jim Wright of Winston-Salem  

*It’s Just a Date by Shelley Stoloroff Segal of Greensboro  

*Malaya and The Freedom Song by Joey Kirkman of Winston-Salem  

*The Moment Before by Samantha Eppes of Cary 

*The Readers by Richard Howell of Asheville 

Directors have been chosen and auditions were held May 6 & 7. All plays will be performed June 6 & 7 at 7:30 p.m. and June 8 at 2 p.m. at the Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness, 114 30th St., Winston-Salem. The plays will be produced in partnership with 40+ Stage Company, the house theatre for the Generations Center.
