The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County County Schools Board of Education will hold a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 8, at the Education Building, 4801 Bethania Station Road.

Buildings & Grounds Committee work session will begin at 4 p.m. The Policy Committee work session is scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m. Committee work sessions will be held in room 223. Closed session of the full board will begin at 5:30 p.m. and open session begins at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

Once posted, the agendas for the meetings can be found under the ‘Meetings’ tab at the top of the Board of Education webpage.

Here’s a list of other WS/FCS events happening this weekend and through April 11:

*On Saturday, April 5, 9 a.m. until noon, students will have the opportunity to find the perfect dress or suit for the prom. The Prom Shop, which is located at 2700 Main St., provides high school students with formal clothes, shoes, and accessories, all free of charge. The clothes are distributed in a boutique-style shopping experience where students can choose their outfits.

*On Thursday, April 10, the district will crown its 2025 Poet Laureate. The annual competition will be held at the WS/FCS Education Building at 6 p.m. For over a decade students from across the district have competed for the title of Poet Laureate. During the competition students will read original poems live in front of an audience. Invited judges will determine first, second and third place winners. In the past The Chronicle has published the winning poem in the newspaper.

*On Friday, April 11, 6:30 p.m., for the fifth year students from Cash, Piney Grove and Sedge Garden Elementary Schools will join together for the Kernersville Junior Choral Festival. This charity concert event will benefit the Community Care Center. Under the direction of Adam Mitchell, the music teacher and choral director at Cash Elementary, nearly 200 singers will perform their own sets and combine to perform two large-scale works for the grand finale. The event will be held at East Forsyth High School and admission is FREE, but donations will be accepted and given to the Community Care Center.
