*40+ Stage will present “The Miracle Worker” on The Second Blooming Stage at the Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness, 114 W. 30th St., on May 9 & 10 at 7:30 p.m. and May 11 at 2 p.m. Run time is two hours and 30 minutes with a 15-minute intermission. Admission: Adults $23, seniors $19 and students $15, including taxes and fees. THURSDAY-SATURDAY, MAY 15-17 

*Join Emily Baker, manager of community and academic learning at Reynolda House Museum of American art, on Thursday, May 15, at 10 a.m., to learn about a work of art from the Hudson River School. The Hudson River School was a 19th century art movement that emphasized the beauty of nature and landscapes and features prominently in Reynolda’s permanent collection. This brief art historical lesson and close examination of an art selection will take place at Reynolda House, 2250 Reynolda Road, followed by an art activity inspired by the Hudson River School artists that fosters creative thinking and exploration. *Join the Winston-Salem Pops Chorus on Thursday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Brown Auditorium at Ardmore Baptist Church for the concert “Give Our Regards to Old Broadway.” The W-S Pops Chorus performs four-part arrangements of “well-seasoned” Pops songs (mid 1930s – early 1970s) that have stood the test of time to become familiar standards, including Big Band, Swing, Jazz and The Great American Songbook. Their spring concert celebrates a century of songs from the Great White Way, covering Broadway musicals from the early 1900s through the early 2000s. In addition to the full 32-voice mixed chorus, the show will feature numbers from the “POPouts,” a small ensemble of auditioned voices, along with solos and duets from individual group members.  

*The second annual Blooming Together Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Generations Center, 114 W. 30th St. Join us for a celebration of intergenerational creativity from 4 to 94. Come experience an international cooking demonstration, musical performances, multi-cultural dances, spoken word performances, and opportunities to participate in hands-on arts activities. *Join Reynolda curator Allison Slaby on Saturday, May 17, 1-2 p.m., for an intimate look at Reynolda’s spring 2025 exhibition “Andrew Wyeth at Kuerner Farm: The Eye of the Earth” before it leaves to travel to the Brandywine Museum of Art later this summer. Hear untold stories and a behind-the-scenes perspective on the exhibition. Reynolda is located at 2250 Reynolda Road. Tickets are $25 and available online at www.reynolda.org.

*Southern Harmony! The Martha Bassett Show with the Piedmont Wind Symphony, Saturday, May 31, at 7:30 p.m., Wait Chapel, Wake Forest University. Martha Bassett and her band join forces with PWS for a uniquely engaging program of music from the South. This special concert features an eclectic mix of shape-note hymns, spirited Cajun reels, and the enchanting sounds that have made Bassett’s band a beloved treasure in the Winston-Salem community. *10-Minute Play Festival featuring the top six plays submitted to the 10-Minute Play competition will be presented on Friday and Saturday, June 6 & 7, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 8 at 2 p.m., at the Intergenerational Center for Arts & Wellness, 114 W. 30th St. The plays are produced in partnership with 40+ Stage Company, the in-house theatre for the Generations Center.
