First round match-ups announced
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s almost time for the 2022 Lash/Chronicle Tournament. This year is stacking up to be one of the best tournaments we have seen in recent years. All games will be played at Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy.
The tournament field is loaded with 14 of the best JV teams in the area. The tournament will run from Tuesday, Dec. 27, through Thursday, Dec. 29. This will be an action-packed three days of JV basketball action. The 14 teams will be separated into two separate divisions, The Lash division and The Chronicle division.
The first-round games for The Chronicle division on Tuesday, Dec. 27, are as follows: (No. 3) Atkins vs. (No. 6) Winston-Salem Prep at 11 a.m., (No. 4) North Forsyth vs. (No. 5) Carver at 12:30 p.m. No. 1 seed Reynolds and No. 2 Lexington received byes for the first round.
The first-round games for The Lash division on Tuesday, Dec. 27, are as follows: (No. 1) Mt. Tabor vs. (No. 8) Parkland at 2 p.m., (No. 4) Walkertown vs. (No. 5) Reagan at 3:30 p.m., (No. 3) Glenn vs. (No. 6) West Stokes at 5 p.m., (No. 2) East Forsyth vs. (No. 7) Forsyth Country Day at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a few new changes to this year’s tournament. First and foremost, one of the pillars of the Lash/Chronicle Tournament has been Robert Wynn. “Coach Wynn” as he is affectionately called by many, is one of the major reasons why the tournament has been around for as long as it has. In honor of Coach Wynn, the MVP trophy in each division will be named in his honor.
This year will also mark the introduction of a three-point contest in the tournament. Each team will have one participant in the contest. After three rounds, a champion will be crowned.
Come on out to W-S Prep and enjoy some great basketball action during the holiday vacation.
