Fourth Street, the Winston-Salem Symphony and Winston-Salem Chorus, music director candidate Michelle Merrill leads an enormous season finale featuring two British blockbusters: Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” and Walton’s epic cantata, “Belshazzar’s Feast.” For tickets, go to www.wssymphony.org.
*May 20, noon, piano and violin concert by Jonathan Williams at St. Philips Moravian Church in the Old Salem historic district. Williams will present a program of African American and Afro-Moravian music from the American South. The concert is included in the purchase of a ticket to Old Salem on that day. *May 21, 3 p.m., Freedom Day Celebration, St. Philips Church, 911 S. Church St., in the Old Salem historic district. A program including spoken word, drumming, dancing and music will begin at 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
*May 21, 2 p.m., Tanglewood Park, Clemmons, the West End Mambo will perform as part of the Winston-Salem and Forsyth County Arts Council and Forsyth County government’s Parks Concerts. Vendors, food trucks and beverages will be available for purchase. Attadeees are encourage to bring a blanket or chair and may bring a picnic. This marks the 8th season of the Parks Concerts Series which are free and take place once a month between May and October.

*May 23, 7:30 p.m., Salem Square, The Salem Band will present music from the ‘80s with their season opening concert. Guest vocalist Michael Martinez. Preconcert music at 6:45 p.m. by The Salem Band Flute Ensemble. Bring a chair or blanket, food vendors on site. Free and family friendly.
