It was an action-packed week for the Hanes Hosiery Community Center youth basketball league. In the 11-15 age bracket, the Bulls beat the Celtics 36-28. Caleb Burgess poured in 21 points to lead the Bulls. The Celtics were led by Peyton Bennett, who had eight points, Joseph Kaspar, with seven points and Josiah Goodman, who added five points.

In the other 11-15 game, the Heat beat the Nuggets 47-38. Nick Gainey was on fire for the Heat. He drilled in four three-pointers and dominated the glass. The Nuggets were led by Josiah Banks, who had 14 points and Brian Carter, who added seven points.

The first of two season openers in the 6-10-year-olds bracket saw the Blue Devils beat the Wolfpack by a score of 30-26. Before a full house of parents, grandparents and fans, the Devils were led by Jordan Timmons with 20 points and William Capizzi, who added six more. The Wolfpack was led by Jimmy Britt’s 13 points and Michah Crowell’s 10.

In the other match up, the Deacons beat the Tarheels 23-19. The Deacs got balanced scoring from Josiah Banks, who had eight points, Aaron Potter, with seven points and Elijah Horton, who added four points. The ’Heels were led by Zach Gibson with his 10 points and Leo Sales, who had five points.
