THE CHRONICLE

On Saturday, May 31, Piedmont Forest School (PFS) will host its second annual Brunch Run fundraiser at Salem Lake Park.

PFS is a nonprofit organization that offers nature-based educational programs to children from diverse backgrounds, hoping to enrich their lives and ignite their interest in the natural world. Since its founding in 2020, PFS has held playgroups, classes and summer camp sessions for infants, toddlers and children K-8 at Salem Lake.

Brunch Run’s goal is to raise $10,000 to support PFS’s Growing Together Fund, which aims to develop PFS programs and help make them more accessible for children of all backgrounds.

There are two runs available for participants: the 1-Mile Fun Run, starting at 9 a.m., and the 5K at 10 a.m. Registration for each run includes a pancake breakfast with all-you-can-eat toppings. The virtual 5K will also be an option for registration.

For those just looking to grab a bite to eat, there are tickets available for exclusive pancake breakfast access from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., as well.

The event also offers music, nature crafts, and tours of PFS’s base camp at Salem Lake.

Registration for the races will end May 31 at 9:59 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. for the virtual 5K. There will also be a pricing increase for tickets to the pancake breakfast after May 29 at 11:59 p.m.
