Two members of the First Waughtown Baptist Church (FWBC) Teens of Purpose (ToP) college/career preparatory ministry were among eight scholarship recipients in the 21st annual Martin Luther King Social Action Committee (MLK-SAC) Oratorical Contest held on Saturday, Jan. 29. Each of the contestants addressed the theme No More Business as Usual.

Heading into the NBA season last year, I thought there was a lot of intrigue as to who would eventually win the championship. I did not see the Bucks winning, but I was happy for the small market team winning it all. Overall, last year was great, but with all of the storylines heading into this year, I think the 2021-22 season will be even better.
Earlier this month, Dr. Dennis W. Bishop was recognized as a Pastor of Excellence during the 2021 Rhythm of Gospel Awards in Memphis, Tennessee, which was hosted by the National & Independent Gospel Music Association (N.I.G.M.A.).
