Christ Rescue Temple to hold homecoming

Christ Rescue Temple Church will host its first Homecoming on June 1 and 2 at the Christ Rescue Temple Farm, 4871 Phelps Drive. Visionary Bishop Willie Davis Jr. merged two churches in 1982 to create Christ Rescue Temple Apostolic Church. The church has grown, as has the East Winston community around it. Christ Rescue has erected apartment complexes for senior citizens, singles and married couples. The church also runs a 40-bed rest home. Davis has also built a daycare center that accommodates 150 children. Four of Davis’ ministers have started their own churches. His motto is “People Helping People.” He practices that motto every Thursday by feeding more than 100 families and homeless people. The church also runs a food and clothes pantry. Saturday, June 1 events, from noon–4 p.m., will include free food and rides, a petting zoo and games. The theme of the celebration is “Rooted and Growing for God’s Glory.”
