Chronicle remains committed amid unexpected challenge

Dear Chronicle community,
Earlier this week, The Chronicle became aware that our president of operations, Derwin Montgomery, was taken into custody. This is a personal legal matter and does not involve the operations, finances or editorial practices of The Winston-Salem Chronicle.
Our team remains fully committed to serving you with the same integrity, transparency and journalistic excellence that have defined our work for the past 50 years. Day-to-day operations will continue uninterrupted under the leadership of Dana Montgomery, who is now serving as interim head of operations and the primary point of contact for all business and financial matters. Dana can be reached directly at dana@wschronicle.com.
We understand that moments like these can raise questions. Please know that our mission has not changed: to inform, uplift and reflect the voices of our community. We will not comment further on this legal matter at this time and ask for your understanding as it proceeds.
You can continue to rely on The Chronicle for accurate reporting, meaningful storytelling and strong community connection. Our newsroom team remains unchanged, and we do not anticipate any disruptions to our publication schedule, delivery or services. If anything, this moment strengthens our resolve.
If we’ve ever needed your support, it’s now. Please continue to read, subscribe, advertise and engage with Winston-Salem’s oldest and most trusted African American newspaper — your Winston-Salem Chronicle.
