CIAA Basketball Honors: All-Conference Teams and Players of the Year Announced
Hampton, VA…The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Coach’s Association has selected the 2013 slate of All-Conference honorees.
The #7 ranked WSSU Rams were rewarded when the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced the 2012-13 All-CIAA selections and the Rams’ Justin Glover and WyKevin Bazemore were named to the All-CIAA team, and Marcus Wells was named Defensive Player of the Year.
Glover ranks t-6th in the CIAA in scoring at 16.7 points per game, while Bazemore ranks 4th in the CIAA in rebounding, pulling down 7.2 per game. Wells lead the CIAA in assists (5.3 pg) and steals (2.7 pg) .
This season’s line-also up features Men’s Player of the Year, Angelo Sharpless of Elizabeth City State University.
Sharpless, a senior forward from Plymouth, North Carolina, ranks at the top of the conference in total field goals made, 101-224 (45.1%), first in total rebounds and per game average (129, 8.2%) and is second in the CIAA in total points, 285, 19.0ppg. Another defensive sting for Sharpless’ opponents are his 24 steals; third most in the CIAA.
All honorees and their fellow All-Conference selectees will be formally recognized at the Men’s and Women’s Tip-Off Awards Luncheon, scheduled for Monday, February 25th at the Charlotte Convention Center. The media are welcome to attend this invitation only celebration.
