City native TJ Boone opens fitness gym
Since he was a student at Glenn High School, TJ Boone has had aspirations of opening his own gym and last weekend he achieved that goal when he opened Beyond Measures PT (Personal Training).
“I started thinking about opening my own gym in 2006 while I was still in high school. That’s when I started using working out as therapy,” said Boone. “When I used to get down and out, I would just work out.”
As he grew older, Boone’s passion for working out and living a healthy life grew into a passion for helping others. Boone, who is a peer support specialist for Top Priority Care Services, LLC, said with his work in mental health, he began to realize how being physically fit could impact more than just your physical appearance.
“Just by working out, we release different hormones inside our bodies that help us relieve stress. And that’s my goal with Beyond Measures, to help our people live healthier lives. It’s not just about being fit, it’s a lifestyle,” continued Boone. “…Over 85 percent of all black people either have back pain, high blood pressure, or a cardiovascular disorder. Just by doing something as simple as working out we can change that.”
Beyond Measures PT is a one-stop shop for everything fitness. Boone specializes in weight loss, weight gaining, body sculpting, boot camps, personal training memberships, beginners boxing, and much more. Beyond Measure also offers drop-in sessions where you can just come in and work out by yourself.
When discussing the name, Beyond Measures, Boone said it derives from the book of Ephesians. He said, “… with the name Beyond Measure I want people to know that they are not limited.
“We can do whatever we want to do. Whether it’s getting fit, getting in shape or anything else you want to accomplish in life, you just have to have patience and a passion to do it,” Boone said.
Beyond Measure PT is located at 4680 Brownsboro Road, Suite 8. For more information, visit Beyond Measures on Facebook or call (336) 905-4423.
