Southeast Ward Council Member James Taylor Jr. will meet with constituents Friday to address their concerns about a recent shooting at the Nitty Gritty Soul Café.

In the wee hours Saturday, shots were fired at Nitty Gritty, a night spot and restaurant on South Main Street, leaving 24-year-old Kenneth Ravon Braddy Jr. dead and three others injured. No arrests have been made. Police say they are still seeking suspects and interviewing witnesses.

Nitty Gritty had been the scene of a prior shooting. Two people were shot in the legs several years ago. Ironically, more than than 20 years ago, when the Steamboat restaurant operated in the current Nitty Gritty building, it was the site of violence. A Winston-Salem police officer shot and killed two attempted robbers at Steamboat.

Taylor’s meeting will start at 6 p.m. It will be held at United Cornerstone Baptist Church, 2745 Patria St.
