Diggs Memorial Church had record-breaking attendance at its recent Vacation Bible School.

Up to 112 people, from ages 2 to 25, attended VBS sessions, which were led by a staff of 20.  Diggs attracted attendees from several nearby communities, including Rolling Hills, Piedmont Circle, Astor Park and Cleveland Avenue Homes. The church already offers hope and healthy meals to residents of those communities.

The church’s Transportation Ministry, led by Deacon Cleveland Miller and William Smith, made sure that attendees made it to and from the church safely.

VBS presenters included prisoners’ rights advocate Pam Peoples-Joyner and the Winston-Salem Police Department, who gave youth an up-close-and-personal perspective of the need for a strong relationship between the community and law enforcement.

VBS teachers included Sybil Phelps, Rev. Sharon Isaiah, Alexandria Canty, Crystal Murray, RoShonda Smith, Roderick Howard, Wanda Jones, Sandra Tate, Linwood Thompson, Schane Rascoe, Donnie Bryant, Carmen Canty, William Smith, Princess Smith, Pam Rivers, Rev. Duck, Faye Hairston, Reta Miller, Pam Rivers, Theola Jones, Glenda Wilson and Donnie Bryant.

Diggs Pastor Lamonte Williams gave  special thanks to VBC participant Anthony Means, a Rolling Hills resident who Williams said had the greatest transformation during VBS week.
