As the winter holidays approach, the Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem is gearing up for a gift collection project that will bring joy to some older adults in our community.

Through partnership with Highland Presbyterian Church, we will collect gift items for participants in our Saturday Night Fellowship program. Prior to the pandemic, the program provided a monthly fellowship meal for close to 100 residents of local housing communities for older adults. Last year, when we could no longer gather in person, we delivered gift bags to folks who had been involved in these gatherings.

This year we face another holiday season where in-person gatherings are not wise. We will again collect items and deliver holiday gift bags. We need items to fill 125 gift bags. For some, this may be the only gift they receive.

If you, your church, group or organization  are interested in donating to the holiday gift drive, please visit our website at www.shepherdscenter.org and click the link for the “2021 Saturday Night Fellowship Holiday Gift Bag Project” for a list of suggested items and to sign up to donate.

For more information, please call the Shepherd’s Center office at 336-748-0217 or email Linda Lewis at llewis@shepherdscenter.org.

It’s a simple and easy way to brighten up the holidays for older adults in our community.
