The Shepherd’s Center of Kernersville will host their third dental clinic for individuals 65+ on Friday, May 17, 2013. The service is for individuals who have no dental insurance, an individual annual income under $22,341 and are residents of their service area, which is Kernersville, Sedge Garden, Union Cross, Walkertown, Oak Ridge, and Colfax.

The 40’ mobile dental unit provided by North Carolina Baptist Men contains two dental chairs, fully equipped with the necessary supplies and self-contained clean water supply and waste disposal. Volunteer dentists and hygienists will staff the mobile clinic which will be located at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kernersville.

Cleanings, fillings, and extractions are the normal treatments. The dentists will not assist with crowns, root canals, oral surgery, dentures, and such. We can call a local professional to look at bridgework to determine whether repairs can be done.

All services must be scheduled in advance. The scheduling of appointments will continue until all of the appointments have been filled. You must have your own transportation to the clinic and have the ability to climb five steps to get into the dental bus. The Kernersville “Project Senior Smiles” is funded by a grant from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust in Winston-Salem. The Shepherd’s Center of Kernersville hopes to enable your smile to be brighter through this dental ministry.

The NC Baptist Men offer the use of the medical/dental buses to Baptist and non-Baptist churches and service organizations within North Carolina who wish to reach out to people in need.
