The Forsyth County Democratic Women will hold a school supplies drive on Saturday, Sept. 5, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., as a contact-less drop-off collection in The Chronicle’s parking lot, 1300 E. Fifth Street. Requested supplies are spiral bound notebooks, loose-leaf paper, pencils, pens, crayons, and face masks. It is requested that donations be placed in the trunk of vehicles. As participants enter The Chronicle’s parking lot from Fifth Street, volunteers will take the supplies from the trunk of cars, close the trunk and then drivers will continue out of the parking lot and turn onto Laura Wall Blvd.

Collected supplies will be delivered to the Educator’s Warehouse where teachers can pick up the supplies and students can come by their school to pick them up (depending on the school), or each school’s CARES Team will assist in getting supplies to the children who need them. The CARES Team will pick up supplies from the warehouse and as they are out in the community, they will see that the supplies get to the students who need them.

Cash donations are also accepted and will be used to purchase additional school supplies. Checks can be mailed to the Democratic Women’s president, Carol Cardwell, at 270 Village Creek Circle, Apt. A, Winston-Salem, NC  27104. Please make the check payable to Forsyth County Democratic Women.

With the multitude of challenges parents are facing as they deal with the pandemic, loss of jobs or income, and the stress of in-home learning, it is more important than ever that we offer our support and encouragement to teachers and students by providing much needed school supplies.
