WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. recognized several standout organizations during its 2025 Annual Awards and Meeting, highlighting local businesses and partners contributing to the region’s economic landscape.

Mozelle’s & Betty on Burke named Small Business of the Year

Mozelle’s and Betty on Burke received the Small Business of the Year award. The restaurant group, led by owner Jennifer Smith and Executive Chef Jay Pierce, was honored for its continued presence and expansion in Winston-Salem’s dining scene.

Mozelle’s has operated downtown since 2008 and is known for using locally sourced ingredients. Betty on Burke opened in 2023. Event organizers highlighted the restaurants’ service, creativity and community presence.

Novex Innovations recognized as Innovator of the Year

Novex Innovations was named Innovator of the Year for its work in life-sciences manufacturing. The company supports biotechnology and life-science firms by helping move products from early discovery through commercialization.

Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. noted the company’s role in advancing scientific and manufacturing capabilities within the region.

Regenerative Medicine Engine receives Collaboration of the Year

The Collaboration of the Year award went to the NSF Regenerative Medicine Engine, a partnership anchored by the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The Engine includes nearly 200 industry, academic, research and community organizations.

According to Greater Winston-Salem, Inc., the initiative has created more than 50 jobs in its first year and generated nearly $300 million in regional investment.

Awards highlight range of local contributions

Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. leaders said this year’s honorees reflect the range of businesses and partners contributing to the region’s growth, recognizing both long-standing local establishments and organizations advancing emerging industries.
