‘Hungry’ concerts to begin
The Voices of God’s Children, Inc. (VOGC) will present an evening of spirituals, hymns, anthems and gospel music on Monday, June 24 at 7 p.m. at Burkhead United Methodist Church, 5250 Silas Creek Parkway.
The performance is part of the Hungry for Music Concert Series.
VOGC, under the direction of Marion “Pete” Thomas, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve Negro spirituals.
A love offering, including fresh vegetables, canned foods or monetary donations, will be accepted.
The Hungry for Music Concert Series, which aims to fight hunger, will also include a Sunday, June 23 concert by Carter Cook; a Tuesday, June 25 rock performance by Jerry Chapman; a blue-grass show on Wednesday, June 26 by Mel Speas and Friends; a Thursday, June 27 show by Peter Kairoff; and a “Campers Sharing Concert” and reception on Friday, June 28 at Mt. Tabor UMC, 3543 Robinhood Rd.
The music series is sponsored by the Western Winston-Salem Missional Network of the United Methodist church.
