The Winston-Salem Chapter of Jack and Jill of America recently inducted seven new members.  Stephanie Boyd-Grady, Kimberly Davis, Cynthia Durham, Tonisha Gladman, Karen Gordan-Mason, Cynthia Miller and Winnie Reaves are preparing for a year of activities to enhance their lives and those of their children after being formally introduced to the organization.

The Winston-Salem Chapter continues to excel under the leadership of President Tamara Henderson and Vice President Tammy Watson.  In the coming year, the Chapter will again partner with a community organization to provide Thanksgiving food baskets for more than 30 disadvantaged families. Members also hope to continue a partnership with a local homeless shelter, where Chapter members and their families have spent time assisting with landscaping and providing lunch for shelter residents.

Plans are also being made for participation in activities to promote healthy families and healthy communities by combining physical fitness with community service. For example, the Chapter has a tradition of participating in cardio-friendly activities like the Crop Hunger Walk and the March of Dimes March for Babies.

The Winston-Salem Chapter was established in 1951 with a mission to participate in cultural, educational, social and spiritual programming that will strengthen the family unit. Each year, the Chapter’s activities are designed to promote personal and family growth through meaningful experiences and relationships for the children and the community.
