Late Forsyth Seafood founder remembered

Forsyth Seafood, a local favorite for the past 30 years, celebrated the life and legacy of founder/owner Charlie Hardesty on Jan. 5 – the day Hardesty was born in 1953, and the day he died in 2013.
Hardesty’s widow Virginia and daughter Ashley hosted the celebration at the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive restaurant. Friends, family members and longtime customers came together to pray, reminisce and challenge one another to move forward with purpose.
“Charlie had a personal mission to help and challenge those around him to be their best,” the family said in a statement. “He was a no nonsense person with a sense of urgency, who probably knew his time here was a limited 60 years.”
There was laughter, tears and food, and the group released balloons and proclaimed happy birthday to Mr. Hardesty. Virginia Hardesty declared that on “Jan. 5, 1953, God gave us Charlie Hardesty, and Jan. 5, 2013 was the day we released him back to God. As Forsyth Seafood celebrates its 30 year anniversary this year, the legacy of Charlie Hardesty continues.”
