Local boy crowned  AME king

Anthony Scott was recently crowned king of the Winston-Salem District AME Zion churches at the Home Missions Banquet at New Jersey AME Zion Church in Lexington. Paula Griffin was crowned Queen.

Anthony, 10, is the son of Crystal and Doug Evans and a fifth grade student at Quality Education Academy.
Anthony, who enjoys playing drums, is a member of Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church, where he serves as an alcolyte, a junior usher, a Buds of Promise Missionary member, a singer in the Goler Greatness Choir and a member of the Mime Dance Ministry.

Rev. Johnny L. Ruff is pastor of Goler Metropolitan; Jamesine Ruff is the church’s first lady. Dr. Calvin L. Miller is the presiding elder of the 21 churches in the Winston-Salem District of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
