Local pastors to be elevated to bishops

Archbishop Alfred A. Owens Jr., Presiding Prelate of the Mount Calvary Holy Church of America, Inc., has announced the elevation to bishop of Rev. Kelvin E. Shouse of Calvary Covenant Fellowship of High Point and Dr. Tejado W. Hanchell of Mount Calvary Holy Church of Winston-Salem. They will be consecrated on Saturday, March 29 at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, 1200 N. Trade St. A banquet will follow at the Embassy Suites.

Shouse will be consecrated and appointed as the Bishop of Protocol for the Mount Calvary Holy Church of America, and Hanchell will be appointed as the Bishop of Administration. These appointments will be an expansion of their current duties within the church. Shouse currently serves as the international director of Protocol; Hanchell is the organization’s general secretary.

Shouse is a life-long member of the Mt. Calvary Holy Church and has labored diligently in service to the kingdom of God for 30 years. He has a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from the University of Southern California Graduate School of Theology.

Hanchell earned his Ph. D. from Regent University and is an adjunct professor at Carolina Christian College. He serves as a chaplain with the Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministries. Hanchell is married to Rev. Victoria F. Hanchell; they have two children, Zaria and Zion.

A pre-consecration service will be held on Friday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Mount Calvary Holy Church, 930 E. 14th St. Archbishop Alfred A. Owens Jr. will speak.
