Leadership Winston-Salem is accepting applications for its nine-month community leadership program, which will begin in October 2013 and end in June 2014.

For those interested in learning more about the program, an information reception will be held on Thursday, May 2 from 5-6:30 p.m. There is no fee for the reception, but pre-registration is required as space is limited. Register at www.leadershipws.org. Information and the program application are also available on the web site.

Selection for the program is based on a variety of criteria designed to select a class of participants who reflect the demographic diversity of Forsyth County. Previous classes have included existing and emerging leaders from business, government, education, healthcare and the non-profit sector, as well as a mixture of ethnicities, ages and genders. An ideal candidate will also have demonstrated experience in community involvement, an interest in learning more about Forsyth County, and a strong desire to improve the community.

Leadership Winston-Salem, founded in 1984, is a nine-month program with monthly sessions covering a wide variety of local topics. Its mission is to educate, connect and energize leaders to serve and improve the community.
