Mayor Pro Tempore ‘DD’ Adams appointed to federal committee
Denise 'DD' Adams

Denise “DD” Adams has been appointed to the 2025 National League of Cities (NLC) Federal Advocacy Committee. The National League of Cities is an organization comprised of city, town and village leaders who are focused on improving the quality of life for their current and future constituents.
With more than 100 years of dedication to the strength and advancement of local governments, NLC has gained the trust and support of more than 2,700 cities across the nation. Their mission is to relentlessly advocate for, and protect the interests of cities, towns and villages by influencing federal policy, strengthening local leadership and driving innovative solutions.
Adams said, “Advocating at the national level is imperative for cities. When our citizens are empowered with knowledge, skills, and well-being, they are better equipped to contribute to society and achieve their full community potential. This leads to personal fulfillment and fosters more substantial, more resilient communities.”
Like many governmental bodies, the NLC has several committees on which leaders are assigned to serve. For Adams, she was selected to serve on the Human Development (HD) Federal Advocacy Committee, which develops policy positions and leads advocacy on issues including social services, education, workforce development, public healthcare, mental health parity, and immigration reform.
“Human development is crucial in enhancing citizens’ quality of life by improving their access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities,” Adam said.
Adams’ membership on the Human Development Committee began in late January and concludes at the adjournment of City Summit 2025 in November.
